A library in Las Cruces, New Mexico, doesn’t have a single book, but those who frequent it say it’s full of potential love stories. This library checks out kittens.
At the Doña Ana County Government Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, employees can “check out” shelter kittens and take them to their offices to love while they work. The building’s receptionist works as the “kitten librarian.”
Angela Roberson, a community planner, told Mother Nature Network that “her productivity decreases when she checks out a kitten,” but “her job satisfaction certainly increases.”
Roberson also told CBS News that having a kitten at work relieves stress. She said, “I mean how can it not when you have a little fuzzy thing that you can take back to your office?”
Those who don’t want to return the kittens can adopt them, giving them a forever home, according to Mother News Network. Because of this “purrfect” program, more than 100 animals have been adopted in the three years the program has existed, the article said.
