Six-Word Stories: Bravery
Three months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian army continues to fight bravely to save their homeland. We also have seen the bravery of ordinary citizens whose lives have been upended.
Most of us don’t know what it is like to have their country invaded. However, many of us have shown courage when faced with insurmountable odds.
Please share a six-word story about a time when you, or someone you know of, exhibited bravery. Your story should have a beginning, middle, and end – not six adjectives.
If you would like, you may include a photo of yourself. If the picture has other people in it, be sure to tell us who is who, including yourself. You must own the copyright or have legal permission to use any media files that you submit so that we can legally publish them.
Email your story to submissions@storiesfromacottage.com by May 30. Include your full name, city, and state in the body of the email. Our editors will select the story that we feel creates the most powerful image of bravery and give that writer a $75.00 gift card.
Our readers and contributors may like to know the “backstory” of our writers’ six-word-stories. If you would like to let people know the story behind your six-word-story, please tell us about it in a short paragraph. We will include it with your six-word-story.
Hints:
- Use sentence style on one line (not all uppercase or all lowercase)
- Use correct spelling
- Your six-word story does not need to rhyme and ideally shouldn’t.
- Authors must be at least 13 to publish a story. In addition, if you are under 18, please do not divulge personal information that could identify you. (Please see our Privacy link at the bottom of our home page for information about the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Here are two examples from people we know
Fourth stage Lymphoma. Chemo. Radiation. Life.
War. They left everything they knew.
